It is often a good idea to store a backup of your website, either as protection against some kind of hack or corruption, or as a stable version of your site before making significant changes.

Classic Hosting (Pathfinder, Adventurer, Globetrotter)

If you have a Classic Hosting Package and would like to backup your site:

Step 1.
Login to your Internic account and select Hosting Manager. 

Step 2.
Click the Control Panel button to the right of your Classic Hosting package.

Step 3.
Create an FTP account if you have not already created one. To view the instructions for creating an FTP account, visit our article How do I create an FTP user? What are my FTP settings?

Download your site files from the public or nic_wordpress folder. 

Step 4.
To download your database, first identify your MySQL username and password. By default, the username is db.yourdomainname.com.  

You can often find your current username and password in the HostingOS control panel by selecting Tools, and File Manager.

Click the root folder for your site, usually either public or nic_wordpress.  If you have a WordPress site you can open the wp-config.php file by clicking the white page icon to the far right of the file.  

Your current database username and password (in place of the asterisks you see) will be listed between apostrophes in this file. Do not include the apostrophes when logging in.

Then select MySQL, and PHPmyAdmin.

Log into the database with your credentials.

Once you have logged into PHPmyAdmin, click the database name on the left, and select the Export tab.

check 'Save as file', and Go at the bottom right.
