Using Internic Email Hosting with a Third-Party Website Host
If your domain is currently hosted with a third-party provider (meaning your DNS and website are managed somewhere else), you can still purchase and use Internic’s Email Hosting for your domain. Hosting your website and your email with different providers is a common setup, and it simply requires pointing your domain’s DNS records to the right place.
How Does This Work?
Your domain’s DNS settings decide where services like your website and email are directed. If your website is hosted elsewhere, you’ll keep it pointed to your third-party provider, while adjusting your MX records so that your email routes through Internic’s servers. This way, your website remains live with your existing host, and your email is fully managed with Internic.
| Note: Any changes that you make to your advanced DNS settings can interrupt your service. If you are not an advanced user, we strongly recommend that you do not change these settings until you contact our support department. |
Two Ways to Set Up Internic Email Hosting
There are two main ways to connect your domain to Internic Email Hosting while keeping your website hosted with another provider:
-
Parking Your Domain with Internic
You can move your domain management to Internic by updating your nameservers.
Once parked, you’ll have full access to Advanced DNS settings in your Internic account.
From there, you can easily point your website traffic to your third-party host (using their A or CNAME records) while letting your email flow through Internic.

-
Updating MX Records at Your Current Provider
If you prefer to keep your domain registered and managed with your current host, you can simply add Internic’s MX records to your DNS settings there.
This will route only your email through Internic, while your website continues to run at your current provider.
- You will need to contact your current host and add our settings below for cloud email:
