Anyone can register a .XXX domain name; however, only verified members of the sponsored community are permitted to activate (resolve) their domain.

The sponsored community includes individuals, businesses, and organizations that provide goods or services to the adult online industry. The registry reviews each application to confirm membership eligibility. The requirements are intentionally broad. For example, a company that manufactures pencils could qualify if its products are used by members of the adult industry.

After registering a .XXX domain, the registry will email the registrant with instructions to complete the membership validation process. Once approved, the registrant will receive a Membership Contact ID associated with their .XXX application.

This Membership Contact ID must be entered in the Membership field of the registrant contact for the .XXX domain in order for the domain to resolve.
